Lake Geneva’s next Bacon Fest promises to be the biggest local celebration yet of one of America’s favorite foods. People enjoyed a bright, brisk Sunday afternoon in March on the Riviera Beach in Lake Geneva. On the way to board the Santa Cruise, ticketholders will stroll through the Santa Cause Christmas Tree Festival, which offers the chance to win prizes. There will be some available, however, people are encouraged to park at Williams Bay High School and take the free shuttle to the Christmas Tree Barn for check-in.

Tickets will cost $30 for each adult and $28 for seniors ages 65 and up. Tickets for youth between the ages of four and 17 cost $18, and children ages three and under can get in for free. Be sure your kids hold onto their boarding passes, as they can enjoy a complimentary treat at the Gage Marina Restaurant in Williams Bay at Pier 290. But it turns out he keeps a humble second home along the idyllic Lake Geneva in Wisconsin — about an hour southeast of the capital city of Madison. Each year, the Lake Geneva Cruise Line brings families together with a holiday-themed boat ride to enjoy the Christmas lights from the water and spot Santa along the shores. This year, the Santa cruises operates from the day after Thanksgiving, November 24, through December 30, 2023.
Embrace the Holiday Spirit in Lake Geneva
Private lakeshore homes are not decorated for the holidays – most homes are summer residences. All lighted displays are provided by Gage Marine and Lake Geneva Cruise Line. On our cruise, we were told that we were going to Santa’s North Pole hideaway.
On the cruise, you’ll take a 40-minute boat ride to Santa’s Secret Hideaway. Along the way, you’ll find dazzling light displays that tell the story of Santa and your journey to see him. Once the boat reaches the hideaway, Santa is elevated on a stage that’s lit up for everyone on the boat to see. Listen carefully as Santa reads the names of all the children on the nice list. Parents enter the names of each child ahead of time when making the reservation.

While the boat is heated and indoors, you’ll still want everyone dressed warmly. You’ll be going in and out from the Christmas Tree Barn, down the pier, and at the marina which can be chilly. There are also outdoor areas on the boat for you to sit and take in the lights. For a dining venue that hits the spot before or after your cruise, add Pier 290 to your itinerary! Pier 290 is the one and only restaurant that is lakeside through every season. With toasty fireplaces, festive music, and out-of-this-world cuisine, Pier 290 makes the perfect place to begin or top off your Santa Cruise excursion.
Checking out the houses
Gage Marine is supporting the Santa Cause this year with a donation of at least $25,000. Ticket prices vary per day, ranging from $20 to $28 for adults; $18 to $26 for seniors; and $9 to $18 for youths. Santa Cruise tours will be conducted Wednesday through Sunday until Dec. 30.
As guests arrive, they will be greeted by the sounds of the Delavan-Darien High School Orchestra performing in the Fireside Lounge. Then, they can enjoy our bountiful buffet with the kids in our Lake Lawn Room and Geneva Club. As an additional treat, the kids will have the opportunity to visit with Santa in his large igloo on the Lakeview Terrace. We will also have a room set aside for various crafts, including ornament making, cookie decorating, and more.
Strollers are allowed on the boat as well as in the Christmas Tree Barn before departure. If the boat is too crowded, your stroller can be used to get on the boat and then stored for the ride. On busy weekends before Christmas, there will be almost no parking at the marina. You can drop off members of your group, park at the high school, and take the shuttle back. A view of Santa reading from the Nice List at his Lake Geneva hideaway - photograph courtesy of Lake Geneva Cruise Lines.
